Middle School Gxrls – Coach
Summary
CHS Ultimate is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced coach for Glitter, the middle school gxrls/non-binary program of CHS Ultimate. The coach will be responsible for teaching the fundamentals of ultimate, fostering a positive and supportive environment, and providing players the skills they need should they continue to play competitively. This program will run throughout the spring season (April-late May) at Maplecrest Park in Maplewood, NJ.
Key Responsibilities
1. Spirit of the Game
- Instill the principles of respect, integrity, and fair play in all team members
- Provide a positive environment where players feel comfortable to attempt new skills
- Promote and enforce the spirit of the game, ensuring that all players demonstrate respect for themselves, their teammates, and their opponents.
2. Skills Instruction and Team Management
- Collaborate with co-coach to create practice plans with clear goals for the development of playing skills
- Differentiate practice plans to engage and support players with a range of abilities
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and board leadership, including:
- Taking attendance
- Sending reminders about practice
- Disseminating information about outside playing opportunities
3. Time Commitment
- Glitter practices once a week on a weekday for two hours, with 1/2 hour for set up, clean up
- Arrive early to set up field and ensure all players are picked up after practice
- Estimated 6 week program, starting week of April 20th – week of May 26th.
4. Qualifications
- Experience coaching or playing Ultimate Frisbee
- Experience working with middle school-age players
- Understanding and commitment to the spirit of the game
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive, respectful, and inclusive team environment
- Complete a background check via a USAU provider.
- Complete USAU-approved concussion training.
- Complete and maintain current Safesport Training.
5. Compensation
- contracted work at a rate of $30/ hour
