The Middle School programs focus on building skills in players while having fun.
COUGARS Travel Open Team is competitive with other Middle School teams in the region. while our re-launched Gxrls and non-binary team, GLITTER is about learning the game and practicing skills in preparation for Sparkle Motion varsity.

GLITTER
CHS Ultimate will again offer a learn-to-play series on Wednesday afternoons for Gxrl and Non-Binary players. This will be coached by Sarah Schillaci and Odile Hannon, former Sparkle Motion team player. This is no charge to players and all skill levels are welcome. The program meets Wednesdays from 4 pm to 6 pm at Memorial Park , starting on 4/8/2026 and runs through the end of May. Everyone is super excited to introduce ultimate to girls and non-binary program. You won’t be disappointed. Register today!!!

COUGAR TRAVEL TEAM: 3 consecutive NJ state championships.
For middle school players who want to practice more and compete against tougher opponents, CHS Ultimate is again offering our Cougars Travel Team. This is open to players in the 6th through 8th grades and we welcome all genders and gender identities. The skill range is broad, but this is not the best for complete beginners. Our travel team will participate in several New Jersey area tournaments and we may travel farther. We’ll practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm at Maplecrest Park and. We ask players to attend at least two practices per week. It’s fun, but we work hard to improve. Please register below and we’ll see you at practice!

MAPLEWOOD ULTIMATE SPRING HOMETOWN with MAPLEWOOD RECREATION
2026 Spring Hometown Ultimate Frisbee League is back this springs with skills, drills and games, including preparation for playing on the high school Ultimate Frisbee teams.
This program is for youth in grades 6-8 who are interested in learning to play Ultimate Frisbee, from fundamental skills to intermediate strategies.
Ultimate promotes mutual respect among players, and the basic joy of sport. It is a team sport that combines the aerial passing skills found in football, the quick transitions from offense to defense found in basketball, and the running and cutting of soccer, while using a regulation Ultimate disc (frisbee) and emphasizing fair play.
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED!
Many in the league never played before, or even threw a frisbee. Players are expected to demonstrate a willingness to learn, take direction, demonstrate good sportsmanship (spirit of the game).
• Required: Each Sunday, 12:45-3:15 pm, From April 12 (assuming fields are ready for use by then) through June 14. at Maplecrest Park.. Practices and games are within this timeslot.
• Optional: One or two Friday night games vs. other nearby towns under the lights at DeHart Park. (date TBA).

MAPLEWOOD ULTIMATE SUMMER CAMP with MAPLEWOOD RECREATION
Maplewood Ultimate Camp (MUC) is back this summer with skills, drills and games, including preparation for playing on the high school Ultimate Frisbee teams. Instructors will include high school Ultimate coaches, and Varsity players. Camps will be held at Maplecrest Park and will be Monday-Friday. Geared towards intermediate and advanced players entering grades 7-11. Players will be grouped by grade and skill levels. Session 1 and Session 2 will be similar programs (players can attend for one week or both weeks).
